With Debs season only around the corner it means only one thing and that is most girls all over Ireland are panicking about what debs dress to buy well that’s if they are as disorganized as I was back in 6th year. Basically got my dress a week before..wouldn’t recommend doing that.
Anyway I feel that online stores have really up their game in creating some stunning maxi dresses that can easily be worn for a debs and to be honest if I was back in school heading to a debs I’d be ditching looking for one in a boutique and I’d be looking online because I mean the dresses online are half the price of renting a debs dress or buying one and they are STUNNING. Also you don’t want to turn up to your debs and some Sinead girl has arrived in the same dress as you which is most likely to happen if you buy from a boutique because let’s face it all boutiques sell similar debs dresses. So think outside the box and order online and you’ll be guaranteed people will be asking you where you got your dress.
So I’ve searched in some of my fave online stores and managed to find some fab dresses that are either inexpensive or expensive because I’m sure some girls just can’t afford to be spending loads on a dress they’re going to wear once whereas if it’s your last debs it’s nice to just go all out and get your dream dress.
I’ve started with the inexpensive dresses and ended on the more expensive ones so just click on the image to shop!
I’m finally back blog writing after being MIA for so long with college work just taking over my life. I finished up on my first year of college last week so I have some time to myself to write before I have to start studying for my exams at the end of the month.
I figured since I’m heading off to Santa Ponsa for a girls holiday at the start of June I may aswell do a blog post relating to that because I’ve been slowly preparing for the holiday by buying a few bits and pieces including some of my travel essentials that I always bring away with me on my carry on. Below are some of my must haves that I’ve always brought with me when going on holiday. Just click on the pictures to shop!
- Hydrating Face Mask
I bought this mask in Liverpool and used it for the first time there recently and it’s become one of my favourite sheet masks. My skin is always so dry from sitting in the sun so I’ll defintely be bringing a few of these to keep it hydrated!
Ive always brought a travel size shampoo and conditioner away with me on holiday in my carry on. They’re so small they can fit anywhere and they always seem to last me a good few days. I always go for a moisturizing or hydrating one because the chlorine from the pool always dries out my hair.
This is a must in my carry on mainly because you’re not allowed bring a big bottle of spray deodorant. This is so handy to use when away on holiday and I’ve found it works just as good as the spray deodorant. You can get this pretty much anywhere for €3.
A travel size can of dry shampoo will be your best friend on holiday. Keeps it from looking greasy and makes your hair smell amazing. For beach days I’ll be putting this into my bag just in case my hair gets greasy lying in the sun. These are available to buy in any pennys store.
If you’re going away to somewhere hot a good moisturizer is needed. I’ve used this one a few times on holiday and it always leaves my skin super soft. It contains aloe Vera and shea butter which is great for your skin after sun exposure. I also smell like mangoes after putting it on so no complaints there!
I’m one of the lucky ones who tans really easily so tanning oil is my best friend while on holiday. This is a new tanning oil that I found on Instagram and I’ve always been keen to try it out. I’ve heard so many great reviews about it so I’m excited to see what it’s like.
Never one to read on a daily basis just not my thing and to be honest I do not have the time. However on the plane I love to read and even when sunbathing by the pool or at the beach. I’m more of a fiction person but I’m interested to see what this book is like and who knows my mind set might be completely changed coming off that plane from Ponsa.
Have a great weekend guys!
I’m probably the only blogger who has never written a post about their skincare routine and that was mainly because I never really had much of a skincare routine up until now.
Lately I have realised that being twenty meant throwing out my simple moisturiser and cleanser and transition over to using more of an expensive brand as my skin is older now and I need to start looking after it more by using better skincare. Even though I haven’t perfected a skincare routine like most bloggers I have been trying out some new skincare products. These products have definitely made a good impact on my skin since using them and today I am going to share with you all my holy grail products that keep my skin clear.
- Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
I’ve been using this cleanser for the past three months now and I am obsessed! Before I used to use the garnier miscellar water but it left my skin feeling so dry. Whereas in this cleanser the Calming Balm Mint and Lavender extracts soothe the skin, while natural Quillaja Saponaria gently foams away toxins and debris. It washes away impurities without stripping or drying which is a plus for me. I only use this to take my makeup off as I am just not one to cleanse every morning I just don’t have the time with running for the bus to college lol!
2. The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA
Honestly never used a serum before but I noticed that my skin was breaking out a good bit so I decided to purchase this serum as it reduces the looks of spots and hyper-pigmentation. Within two weeks I saw a difference in my skin as it cleared up so much. I only use this now when my skin starts to show signs of a breakout and I apply it before applying my moisturiser.
3. The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
I’ve only recently started to use this but so far so good! The oil is rich in fatty acids, vitamins and carotenes, which leave the skin moisturised and nourished. I use this every second night before I go to bed and there’s no need to apply your moisturiser with it.
4. Mario Badescu Buttermilk Moisturiser
This is a lactic acid infused cream for combination-dry skin. I’ve been using this moisturiser for a couple of weeks now twice a day once in the morning and once at night. It hasn’t irritated my skin at all which is great because most moisturisers I use tend to do that. It always makes my skin feel so moisturised and it’s super lightweight which is what I love.
5. Glamglow Gravity Mud Mask
Literally obsessed with this mask! The mask firms your skin leaving it feeling tighter and not to mention changes colour from white to chrome. It’s also the most satisfying feeling ever peeling it off my face lol! I use this about once a week, every fortnight.
Another day, another review! Today’s beauty review is all about the latest beauty product that has recently entered my life which is the Berry Bold palette from Madison Makeup.
About two weeks ago I attended the launch of Madison Makeup in Dublin. Madison Makeup is an Irish brand founded by Paul Mooney. It was such a great night as I got to network among other bloggers and enjoy the complimentary drink. Not only this but I was also gifted with a goodie bag on leaving the party. In the goodie bag I received a contour palette and the berry bold palette. The Berry Bold Palette contains 10 eyeshadows with shades such as pink champagne, rich berry, neutral browns and four highlighters. The Contour Palette has six contour shades in it from light, medium and dark and to finish with the Palette has a luminous highlighter and beautiful blusher. Once I seen the berry bold palette I knew I was going to love it!
So the other day I figured why not try out the palette considering I have the time to mess around with the colours to create a makeup look with it. I knew by looking at it that I wanted to go for a berry tone look. The shades I used to achieve my eye look were BURNT, BLUSH, SCARLET and DO. I was so surprised as to how pigmented the eyeshadows were! They blended so well and I didn’t need much on my brush at all when applying them. I had this makeup on all day and the eyeshadows didn’t crease once so I was very impressed. For my highlighter I used the DAISY shade which is such a beautiful soft pink highlighter that went on so nicely. To finish off my makeup look I applied Mac WHIRL lipliner and lipstick.
Overall, I was very impressed with the pigmentation of the eyeshadows and highlighters. This was the first look I tried out using the palette and I was so happy with how it turned out. This palette retails at €19.95, an absolute bargain if you ask me for the quality of it. It would be such a perfect gift for either a friend or girlfriend because they would get so much use out of it! Down below are some close up shots of the look I created.
Hope you enjoyed today’s review and happy shopping!
Just a quick little blog post about my birthday makeup from last weekend. Last Saturday I turned 20 which was scary at first because I realised l’m a year away from actually having to be an adult and act responsible lol but now I’ve kind of settled into this fact of no longer being a teenager.
For my birthday I headed home to Wexford from Maynooth with my boyfriend and had such a lovely weekend spent at home with my friends and family. With work and college I rarely get to see my friends and family anymore so it was great catching up with everyone.
In the midst of planning my birthday I had to worry about how I’d have time to do my makeup as I knew I would be in a rush all day getting everything prepared for my birthday dinner. Luckily Roisin Leacy from Airbase Ireland saved the day by getting in contact with me to offer me a makeup application from one of her head makeup artists. I was delighted about this offer because it would mean i would no longer have to worry about my birthday makeup and I have always wanted to try out airbase makeup as I’ve heard so many good things about it.
My makeup was applied by Shay Wakerley(@shaywakerley) and it only took 45 minutes which was perfect. She used many products I have never used before such as Airbase makeup using an airbrush applicator. The airbrush was so soft on my skin and literally felt like a mini fan blowing air onto my face which felt so nice and relaxing. I asked Shay for a smokey eye look and I was delighted with how it turned out at the end! The airbase makeup lasted for most of the night which was about 5 hours. This for me would be less than normal in relation to how long my makeup lasts as usually my makeup would last for 8 hours or more before it starts to wear off or get patchy. I loved how Shay used various types of products from different brands instead of most makeup artists who stick to using the one brand when doing my makeup.
Overall I would recommend the airbase makeup as it looks flawless on and feels very light on the skin but I would only wear this makeup for events instead of an all day type makeup. The girls are based in Gorey Institute of Beauty in Wexford and they were kind enough to have their makeup artist come to my house to do my makeup which made things so much easier for me! Gorey Institute of beauty is an ITEC beauty training college which is known for being one of the best in beauty training so if anyone is interested in becoming a beauty specialist there are loads of different courses available there.
