I’m probably the only blogger who has never written a post about their skincare routine and that was mainly because I never really had much of a skincare routine up until now.
Lately I have realised that being twenty meant throwing out my simple moisturiser and cleanser and transition over to using more of an expensive brand as my skin is older now and I need to start looking after it more by using better skincare. Even though I haven’t perfected a skincare routine like most bloggers I have been trying out some new skincare products. These products have definitely made a good impact on my skin since using them and today I am going to share with you all my holy grail products that keep my skin clear.
- Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
I’ve been using this cleanser for the past three months now and I am obsessed! Before I used to use the garnier miscellar water but it left my skin feeling so dry. Whereas in this cleanser the Calming Balm Mint and Lavender extracts soothe the skin, while natural Quillaja Saponaria gently foams away toxins and debris. It washes away impurities without stripping or drying which is a plus for me. I only use this to take my makeup off as I am just not one to cleanse every morning I just don’t have the time with running for the bus to college lol!
2. The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA
Honestly never used a serum before but I noticed that my skin was breaking out a good bit so I decided to purchase this serum as it reduces the looks of spots and hyper-pigmentation. Within two weeks I saw a difference in my skin as it cleared up so much. I only use this now when my skin starts to show signs of a breakout and I apply it before applying my moisturiser.
3. The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
I’ve only recently started to use this but so far so good! The oil is rich in fatty acids, vitamins and carotenes, which leave the skin moisturised and nourished. I use this every second night before I go to bed and there’s no need to apply your moisturiser with it.
4. Mario Badescu Buttermilk Moisturiser
This is a lactic acid infused cream for combination-dry skin. I’ve been using this moisturiser for a couple of weeks now twice a day once in the morning and once at night. It hasn’t irritated my skin at all which is great because most moisturisers I use tend to do that. It always makes my skin feel so moisturised and it’s super lightweight which is what I love.
5. Glamglow Gravity Mud Mask
Literally obsessed with this mask! The mask firms your skin leaving it feeling tighter and not to mention changes colour from white to chrome. It’s also the most satisfying feeling ever peeling it off my face lol! I use this about once a week, every fortnight.
Another day, another review! Today’s beauty review is all about the latest beauty product that has recently entered my life which is the Berry Bold palette from Madison Makeup.
About two weeks ago I attended the launch of Madison Makeup in Dublin. Madison Makeup is an Irish brand founded by Paul Mooney. It was such a great night as I got to network among other bloggers and enjoy the complimentary drink. Not only this but I was also gifted with a goodie bag on leaving the party. In the goodie bag I received a contour palette and the berry bold palette. The Berry Bold Palette contains 10 eyeshadows with shades such as pink champagne, rich berry, neutral browns and four highlighters. The Contour Palette has six contour shades in it from light, medium and dark and to finish with the Palette has a luminous highlighter and beautiful blusher. Once I seen the berry bold palette I knew I was going to love it!
So the other day I figured why not try out the palette considering I have the time to mess around with the colours to create a makeup look with it. I knew by looking at it that I wanted to go for a berry tone look. The shades I used to achieve my eye look were BURNT, BLUSH, SCARLET and DO. I was so surprised as to how pigmented the eyeshadows were! They blended so well and I didn’t need much on my brush at all when applying them. I had this makeup on all day and the eyeshadows didn’t crease once so I was very impressed. For my highlighter I used the DAISY shade which is such a beautiful soft pink highlighter that went on so nicely. To finish off my makeup look I applied Mac WHIRL lipliner and lipstick.
Overall, I was very impressed with the pigmentation of the eyeshadows and highlighters. This was the first look I tried out using the palette and I was so happy with how it turned out. This palette retails at €19.95, an absolute bargain if you ask me for the quality of it. It would be such a perfect gift for either a friend or girlfriend because they would get so much use out of it! Down below are some close up shots of the look I created.
Hope you enjoyed today’s review and happy shopping!
Just a quick little blog post about my birthday makeup from last weekend. Last Saturday I turned 20 which was scary at first because I realised l’m a year away from actually having to be an adult and act responsible lol but now I’ve kind of settled into this fact of no longer being a teenager.
For my birthday I headed home to Wexford from Maynooth with my boyfriend and had such a lovely weekend spent at home with my friends and family. With work and college I rarely get to see my friends and family anymore so it was great catching up with everyone.
In the midst of planning my birthday I had to worry about how I’d have time to do my makeup as I knew I would be in a rush all day getting everything prepared for my birthday dinner. Luckily Roisin Leacy from Airbase Ireland saved the day by getting in contact with me to offer me a makeup application from one of her head makeup artists. I was delighted about this offer because it would mean i would no longer have to worry about my birthday makeup and I have always wanted to try out airbase makeup as I’ve heard so many good things about it.
My makeup was applied by Shay Wakerley(@shaywakerley) and it only took 45 minutes which was perfect. She used many products I have never used before such as Airbase makeup using an airbrush applicator. The airbrush was so soft on my skin and literally felt like a mini fan blowing air onto my face which felt so nice and relaxing. I asked Shay for a smokey eye look and I was delighted with how it turned out at the end! The airbase makeup lasted for most of the night which was about 5 hours. This for me would be less than normal in relation to how long my makeup lasts as usually my makeup would last for 8 hours or more before it starts to wear off or get patchy. I loved how Shay used various types of products from different brands instead of most makeup artists who stick to using the one brand when doing my makeup.
Overall I would recommend the airbase makeup as it looks flawless on and feels very light on the skin but I would only wear this makeup for events instead of an all day type makeup. The girls are based in Gorey Institute of Beauty in Wexford and they were kind enough to have their makeup artist come to my house to do my makeup which made things so much easier for me! Gorey Institute of beauty is an ITEC beauty training college which is known for being one of the best in beauty training so if anyone is interested in becoming a beauty specialist there are loads of different courses available there.

I decided to start a little travel diary as I do love to travel and would love to share my experiences and some information about the places I visit to you.
So as you all know from my Instagram I went to Nerja Spain with my family for a couple of days in August. I’ve been to so many places all over Spain but Nerja has definitely topped it for me, from the cute main streets to the picturesque views from the town square. The best part about this relaxed town is the fact that it isn’t full of tourists like most places in Spain so you get a real sense of the Spanish culture which I feel is very important.
Nerja is a resort town along southern Spain’s Costa del Sol. It’s seafront promenade, Balcón de Europa, tops a promontory with views of the Mediterranean and surrounding mountains. Below it lie sandy beaches and cliff side coves. Cueva de Nerja, a nearby cavern with unusual stalactites and stalagmites, hosts popular summertime concerts. It’s also known for its paleolithic paintings, viewable by guided tour.
How did we get there from Ireland?
We flew with Aer Lingus from Dublin to Malaga (2-3 hours). So for me it was a quick flight as I slept most of the way which is always the case with me because I love my sleep lol!
Where we stayed?
We rented out a two bed apartment in an area called Oasis de Capistrano. The gorgeous white washed apartments over looked the ocean so the views every morning that I woke up to were beautiful! Also we were only a 10 minute walk from the town square and the beach which was so handy.
Where we ate?
- Pinocchio Restaurant- My family and I are serious pasta lovers so we know good Italian food when we see it and my god did we love their pasta! The first night I had the lasagne and the second night I had the spaghetti bolonese, both tasted amazing. This place was so good that we eat there twice!
- Little Italy- A family friend recommended this place to us saying the pizzas were divine and she was definitely right. Such great quality food at such a low price, 10/10.
- La Taberna- We actually stumbled across this restaurant by accident and we were so glad we did because the Spanish cuisine here was excellent. We all ordered the same thing which was the seafood pasta. I never actually tried this dish before but I loved it so much and it was also great value for money as the portion size was huge!
- Cafeteria Calabella- Great place for a coffee and some lunch. The only thing better than the coffee was the sea view as this cafe is situated on the cliff which over looks the ocean. Such stunning views.
I hope this little bit of info was useful for any of you who may consider a trip to Nerja, Spain in the future. Such a gorgeous little town!
